Welcome to the Big Black Creek Historical Association!
The Big Black Creek Historical Association (BBCHA) was founded in 2006 with the express purpose to identify, preserve and promote historical sites with the communities of Denmark, Mercer, Leighton and Woodland, all small towns west of Jackson, TN.
The BBCHA's name came from the Big Black Creek, a waterway that figured prominently in the early settlement of the area.
The BBCHA is a 501(c)3 organization and was organized and is run by an all-volunteer organization. All contributions to the BBCHA are invested in the restoration of historic sites in these areas.
In 2007 the organization began work to restore the Denmark Presbyterian Church for use as a museum. Efforts are also underway to restore several cemeteries and historic homes in the area.
The BBCHA meets on the last Thursday of each month at the Ebenezer Church, Mercer, TN at 7:00 p.m. Please come and join us as we preserve the history of these important communities.
